Sunday Soiree at Cliveden House

The Purcell School is the UK's oldest music school and one of the world’s leading centres for musical education, holding Royal Patronage from His Majesty King Charles III. Situated on the outskirts of London in Bushey, Hertfordshire, the boarding and day school is home to 196 musically talented young people, all of whom are passionate about fulfilling their talent. It is where the future of music is made.

The School provides vital, specialist training for exceptionally gifted children and young people from across the UK, and beyond. Students are equipped with the self-confidence, adaptability, maturity and perspective to sustain their professional development and personal fulfilment throughout their lives. This early-years pre-conservatoire training simply cannot be replicated at this standard or scale in a mainstream setting.

While at the School, students benefit from instrumental lessons, ensemble playing and performance opportunities, alongside a balanced academic education, to ensure they have the skills and perspective they need to enjoy a long and successful career as a musician.

Having received an outstanding education, Purcell students graduate to study at leading music colleges and conservatoires, often having been offered scholarships. Destinations of leavers also comprise the UK’s top universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.

Notable alumni include internationally acclaimed pianist and composer Alexis Ffrench, BBC Young Musician 2022 winner Alim Beisembayev, pioneering kora player and composer Sona Jobarteh, globally renowned pianist Yiruma, BBC Young Musician of the Year 2014 Martin James Bartlett, former Royal Harpist Anne Denholm, multi-Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist Jacob Collier and Oscar and BAFTA-nominated film composer Mica Levi, among many others.
